Overview

As a member of the Maudsley Learning live delivery team, the post holder will organise and support educational audio-visual media production and the face-to-face and digital delivery of simulation-based-education (SBE) training and other Maudsley Learning courses. The post-holder will also organise and support the delivery of a variety of medical, clinical, and multidisciplinary training courses using simulation technologies. The post-holder will require practical technical aptitude and the ability to learn and develop skills, to enable the confident delivery of simulation training which will use a variety of audio-visual recording and live stream technologies, as well as the use of medical high-fidelity mannequins and routine clinical equipment.

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) provides a wide range of NHS mental health services and works with IoPPN, King’s College London, and the King’s Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre. Our teams focus on care and treatment, science and research, and training. SLaM employs around 5,000 staff and serves a local population of 1.1 million people.

Main Duties
  • Assist the delivery of a range of SBE training courses with mental health simulation faculty and training leads. This includes presence at day courses, ensuring smooth audio-visual delivery, working with professional actors, and preparing and using high-fidelity mannequins. Sessions may be at the Ortus Simulation Suite or client in-situ spaces, possibly using our bespoke AV streaming system.
  • Assist in the digital moderation of live online training courses and webinars (e.g., Zoom, MS Teams), providing Q&A and technical support for participants, supporting presenters, and moderating chat.
  • Support the production of learning, development & promotional video, audio and virtual reality content and materials. On-location assistance for video shoots as required, including pre-production planning, shoot execution, and post-production editing (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro).
  • Operate and coordinate the centre’s specialist simulation AV system (SMOTS) and manage props and scene changes during simulations to create immersive environments. This may involve moving items of furniture as part of a team.
  • Coordinate actors for live simulation scenarios and lead on the moderation of digital simulations and webinars.
  • Liaise with Course Faculty and Subject Matter Experts; ensure technical materials are ready in advance of courses.
  • Provide technical support and maintain the centre’s simulation and production AV equipment and consumables; liaise with senior Media Team members and Trust ICT services as needed and with AV suppliers.
  • Participate in training and event delivery needs as required by the Head of Live Delivery and Head of Production.
  • Report faults and order supplies; manage day-to-day budget duties as authorised for small payments related to the Simulation suite.

  • Coordinate actors for live simulations and lead on moderation of digital courses and webinars; set up IT equipment as needed.
  • Liaise with Course Faculty and SMEs; ensure technical materials are ready in advance of courses.
  • Sensitively support/assist Experts by Experience (EBEs) involved in Maudsley Learning courses.
  • Provide technical support and maintain AV equipment and consumables; liaise with senior Media Team and Trust ICT services and AV suppliers as required.
  • Participate in training and event delivery as required; report faults, order supplies, and manage small payments for purchases related to the Simulation suite.
  • Deliver a high standard of customer care aligned with the organisation’s objectives.
