Service Technician - London & South Area

Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance regimes as determined by contract terms on a portfolio of lift/escalator equipment.
  • Complete Schindler safety inspections and close any open non-conformities to current legislation or standards.
  • Oversee improvement of equipment condition to improve time between technical call-backs and reduce lift equipment downtime.
  • Perform minor repair work and lifecycle replacement of components.
  • Adhere to all company safety and conduct procedures and provide coverage via an on-call rota for out-of-hours calls, maintenance and repairs.
  • This is a full-time and permanent role.
What you’ll be doing
  • Carrying out routine servicing of lift/escalator equipment, including minor repair work and routine replacement of components in accordance with approved company procedures (PPE, PDA, Expert+).
  • Rectifying and reducing faults on lift/escalator equipment in cases of breakdown and verifying correct functioning.
  • Checking lift/escalator function as part of maintenance, including speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise, temperature, and power supplies using approved tooling and PPE.
  • Carrying out routine inspection and adjustment of lift/escalator in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Reinstating lift/escalator and completing service documentation.
  • Carrying out more advanced fault finding and diagnostic procedures, restoring equipment to service. Use of written or graphical information and relevant test equipment.
  • Carrying out site surveys and attending relevant training sessions to stay up to date on technical knowledge and skills.
  • Working in accordance with the Company’s Safety and Environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements, while setting a personal example of safe behaviour.
  • Contributing to the Company safety objectives by maintaining monitoring current safety systems under direct control and implementing changes to its safety management system where applicable.
What you bring / Qualifications
  • Experience in lift/escalator servicing/maintenance/repairs preferred.
  • NVQ level 3 minimum in Lift/Escalator maintenance or equivalent.
  • Willingness to work towards Schindler Certification Level 3 Red.
  • Advanced electrical and mechanical knowledge, including multi-brand equipment.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and operate efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently with a flexible approach.
  • Good communication skills at different levels (Client/Service Leader/Inspectors).
  • Manual dexterity and ability to use hand and power tools and record written information.
  • Proven fault finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Good administration skills and punctuality.
  • Full UK driving licence.
