Job description

Are you a proactive and technically astute professional with experience supporting government communications systems? An exciting opportunity has opened for a Service Manager - Technical to take ownership of support case management for a major UK Government communications programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage support cases under UK Government contracts (including CSCS4), ensuring SLA and KPI compliance.
  • Oversee case progression and liaise with internal teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Serve as primary liaison for MOD project teams, system engineers, and support stakeholders.
  • Plan and oversee service visits, ensuring logistics, equipment, and commercial terms are aligned.
  • Monitor trends in ticketing systems to inform process improvement and spares planning.
  • Produce, maintain, and improve support documentation and knowledge base materials.
  • Train first- and second-line support staff and onboard new field service engineers.
  • Support MOD stakeholders during complex technical investigations, both remotely and on-site.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong commercial experience supporting satellite communications, IT networks, and electronic systems.
  • Strong understanding of MOD environments across COMSAT, MILSAT, MNE, and message handling.
  • Strong understanding of Royal Navy or similar defence communications.
  • Familiarity with wider MOD communications infrastructure across land and sea platforms.
  • Strong working knowledge of IT networking, satellite systems, and electrical/electronic equipment.
  • Must hold or be eligible for DV Security Clearance.
  • Flexible for occasional travel and on-site support as required.
