We are looking for an experienced, highly skilled and motivated leader to manage our CAMHS East London Admission Avoidance Pathway services including the Crisis Service, Home Treatment Team and DBT Service.
This is a three month secondment opportunity to step in a senior leadership role and have oversight of services which are fast paced, with a clear focus on supporting children and young people to remain in familiar environments when they need high levels of support, and avoiding admission to hospital
Main duties of the job
The post holder will form part of the East London Alternatives to Admission Services’ leadership team and be responsible for the delivery of the highest standards of care and services for children and young people experiencing mental health crises and their family / carers.
Working in partnership with the Consultant Psychiatrist and other operational and clinical leads, the post holder will provide inspirational leadership to three teams of multidisciplinary clinicians – ensuring effective, evidence based assessment and treatment, accessible care pathways and a culture of continuous quality improvement.
The post holder will be a senior clinician from a core CAMHS discipline and will be jointly accountable for the clinical leadership of the service. The post holder will report to the Associate Director for overseeing the delivery of EL CAMHS Crisis, HTT and DBT service, bringing together component parts to ensure robust patient safety, improved patient experience and positive clinical outcomes. They will ensure performance and quality targets are met, that access to evidence based interventions is evidenced and lead on developing capability in the team to deliver positive and measurable outcomes for children, young people and their families / carers.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To provide inspirational clinical leadership of multi-disciplinary clinicians in both the EL CAMHS Crisis and HTT services to ensure young people have access to evidence based assessment and treatment
- To provide visible leadership in a continuous quest for improving professional development, performance and quality, promoting a clear sense of direction within the EL CAMHS Crisis and HTT fitting with the achievement of the Service’s objectives and modernisation of services
- To support the shaping and development of Service and Trust strategy and support the delivery of CAMHS priorities and objectives through an effective operational multidisciplinary management model.
- To lead on the implementation of key CAMHS quality initiatives ensuring at all times that the care provided to children and young people is of a consistent high quality and is measured using effective outcome measures.
- To ensure that effective operational procedures are in place to allow the delivery of a responsive service that fully meets the relevant needs of the children, young people and their families.
- To develop and maintain an effective communications system for EL CAMHS Crisis and HTT, both internal and external, to ensure colleagues, service users, parents / carers and other stakeholders are kept up to date with current services, service development and opportunities for change
- To ensure EL CAMHS Crisis and HTT effectively takes account of and is actively responsive to the needs of its local communities.
- To work with the Associate Clinical Directors and Consultant Psychiatrist / Joint CTL for EL CAMHS Crisis and HTT to support quality Clinical Governance arrangements are in place within the team, and that these are adhered to and regularly reviewed
- To work within statutory requirements, relevant Trust policies and procedures and local practice guidelines and procedures for the service.
- To maintain a broad-based knowledge of health and social care legislation, policy and clinical practice developments to support effective management decisions in the service.
- To be accountable for clinical risk management and the delivery of safe and effective child mental health services for the populations served by the team
- To have an overview of activity and staffing levels within EL CAMHS Crisis and HTT and to be aware of team members’ job plans and sessional availability.
- To ensure that throughput and performance are managed effectively in EL CAMHS Crisis and HTT - taking responsibility for decision making on referrals, allocation and reviewing episodes of care.
- To provide senior clinical input to EL CAMHS Crisis and HTT on complex cases, and make decisions in the event of disagreement
- To identify performance issues that arise in EL CAMHS Crisis and HTT and address using the established line management arrangements where appropriate, as well as People and Culture policies.

Professional Qualifications and training
Essential criteria
- Degree level study or equivalent / Further post degree qualification
- Qualification in a relevant profession such as Nursing, Systemic Psychotherapy, Clinical / Counselling Psychology, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Arts Therapies.
- Educated to masters degree level in a CAMHS related area
- Current Registration with appropriate professional body e.g. ACP / HPC / UKCP / NMC
