Job description

As a Senior Water Management officer you’ll have a varied role with the aim of protecting and enhancing the water environment in north Worcestershire.

Leading response and planned work in the Redditch area, you’ll be responding to planning applications, considering and authorising consents for works in watercourses, helping respond to flood events, investigating flooding and drainage problems and helping the council look after the watercourses in the area.

A sound environmental background (degree level) with knowledge of watercourses is essential. The ability to analyse, produce reports, negotiate with developers to achieve the best sustainable drainage scheme opportunities on new developments will bring real results to improve the water environment. We'll provide relevant training to support you in the role.

You’ll be working in an enthusiastic, results driven team that also brings in project work and opportunities to develop flood defence schemes, engage with communities and work alongside the Environment Agency, Severn Trent Water and others.

North Worcestershire Water Management is a shared service that covers Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest council areas.

You’ll need a vehicle, be able to walk across rough ground and may need to work outside normal office hours occasionally.

This is a temporary position to cover adoption leave of the current postholder and so we expect this to last up to 12 months.

We understand you may use AI tools to help you prepare your application. While these tools can be helpful, please ensure everything you share about your experiences, skills, and qualifications is authentic and truly reflects you.
