Overview

Job Title: Senior / Principal Transport Planner

Location: Bristol or Plymouth

Team: Development Planning

Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 (depending on experience)

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Flexible Working: Yes - hybrid model available

Responsibilities
  • Lead or support the preparation of Transport Assessments, Statements, and Travel Plans for development planning applications.
  • Contribute to transport strategies, access design and feasibility studies for new developments.
  • Undertake junction and network modelling (e.g. ARCADY, PICADY, LINSIG).
  • Liaise with clients, architects, local authorities, and project teams to progress schemes through planning.
  • Support junior staff and contribute to mentoring and team development.
  • Contribute to fee proposals, project planning, and client relationship management (particularly at Principal level).
  • Identify new work opportunities and assist in business development (at Principal level).
Requirements
  • A degree in Transport Planning, Geography, Civil Engineering or similar.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in transport or development planning consultancy.
  • Experience in writing technical reports to support planning applications.
  • Familiarity with design standards and guidance such as the NPPF, Manual for Streets, and DMRB.
  • Proficient in transport modelling and analysis software such as ARCADY, PICADY, LINSIG, TRICS.
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills.
  • Chartered or working towards chartership (CIHT, TPS or similar) preferred.
