Job Title: Senior Training Designer

The role

As a Senior Training Designer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be a key member of the People Capability Enhancement Programme (PCEP), pioneering impactful training solutions that define workforce excellence. You’ll lead design activities, collaborate with stakeholders, and shape competency‑driven interventions that support the regeneration of submarine capability. This is a unique opportunity to influence learning strategy in a complex engineering environment and grow your career in a high‑profile programme.

Day‑to‑day, you’ll maintain training programme activity through design and stakeholder engagement, develop blended learning outcomes, and ensure consistency and quality in delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Acting as a focal point within the Training Design team to maintain programme activity
  • Conducting design activity to create blended outcomes tailored to competency requirements
  • Presenting design concepts and proposed solutions to functional competency leads
  • Supporting the development of training interventions through learning objectives
  • Providing guidance to trainers to ensure consistency and quality in delivery

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience
  • Experience in the defence sector (desirable)
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Extensive previous experience in a complex engineering or educational environment
  • Familiarity with compliance training and defence industry standards
Qualifications
  • Foundation degree (Level 4) in training analysis or technical discipline
  • Degree level (Level 5) qualification or equivalent experience – Desirable
Security clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
