This well-established business designs, manufactures, and supplies a wide range of temporary works and excavation support solutions, supporting major infrastructure and building projects across the UK.

The Role

As a Senior Temporary Works Structural Design Engineer, you will play a key role within the in-house design team, taking technical ownership of projects from concept through to delivery. You'll lead the design of safe, practical, and cost-effective temporary works solutions while providing guidance, mentoring, and technical oversight to more junior engineers. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone confident in both design and leadership, with the opportunity to influence project outcomes and engineering standards across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and checking of structural and geotechnical solutions for temporary works and excavation support schemes.
  • Take responsibility for project delivery, ensuring designs are completed safely, efficiently, and to programme.
  • Review and approve design calculations, drawings, and technical reports in line with relevant standards and procedures.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to graduate and junior engineers, supporting their development.
  • Liaise directly with clients, contractors, and internal project teams to deliver practical, buildable design solutions.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes, standards, and innovation within the team.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
About You
  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related discipline).
  • Significant experience in temporary works and/or excavation support design.
  • Strong technical understanding of structural mechanics and relevant design codes.
  • Experience leading projects and overseeing the work of junior engineers.
  • Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Proactive, organised, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient with relevant design software and CAD tools.
  • Must be a UK citizen (sponsorship not available).
What's on Offer
  • Salary up to £55,000, depending on experience.
  • Opportunity to take a senior, influential role within a respected and growing business.
  • Involvement in a wide range of challenging and high-profile projects.
  • Support towards chartership and ongoing professional development.
  • Friendly, collaborative working environment with clear progression opportunities.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Temporary Works Engineer looking to step into a senior position with real responsibility and impact. If you're ready to lead projects and develop others while working on technically interesting schemes, we'd love to hear from you
