The Opportunity

Allegro Power Business Unit is looking for a Senior System Engineer to join our Intelligent Motor Drivers, IMD Business Line. The team develops motor drivers that include an ASIC and SoC system. Focus application segments are Automotive, Industrial and datacentre infrastructure.

The successful candidate will have customer facing experience and will be comfortable in developing and communicating our products value proposition to internal and external customers. They will work with strategic marketing, field application engineer and customers to specify new and differentiated products that address customer needs, generate technical value propositions, and help create collateral to convey messages to internal stakeholders and external customers and partners. The person will work closely with design to ensure the products are built to specification. The role will also involve application engineering to build up customer support ecosystem, functional validation of new products as well as early design-in activities.

What You\'ll Do
  • Responsible for new product definitions throughout its lifecycle from concept definition to RTM.
  • Conduct competitive analysis, deep understanding of customer applications and systems.
  • Define and articulate Value-Add requirement of the products.
  • Creation and maintenance of requirements and specifications documents.
  • Collaborate with Design/Test and Manufacturing to ensure products are designed to specifications.
  • Build validation plans and own their execution across multiple teams.
  • Join force with strategic marketing for product promotions and collateral generations (reference design, evaluation boards, white paper, application notes, software tools etc).
  • Collaborate with and train field application engineers to support customer designs.
  • Build up customer support ecosystem to have design-in.
  • Customer engagement through demonstration with field application engineering and sales team.
Who You Are
  • BSEE (MSEE preferred) or more and having a deep understanding of motor control, such as sensorless FOC for PMSM, IPMSM or BLDC.
  • A strong understanding of 3-phase inverter gate driver design for automotive 12 or 48V system.
  • Ability to design and evaluate 3-phase motor drive performance in lab
  • Ability to design and build hardware such as printed circuit boards, data acquisition systems, custom cables as well as hand soldered application boards.
  • Having real time basis coding skill for motor control using C or MATLAB/Simulink
  • Motor control simulation skill with MATLAB/Simulink
  • Core electronics hardware fundamentals and deep understanding of power conversion
  • Customer facing experience in a technical role is necessary.
  • Motor control algorithm evaluation skill in lab
  • Strong lab and circuit debugging skills; experience in defining demo systems
  • Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.
  • Requires strong verbal and presentation skills, both in person and remotely in English. The successful candidate will possess a good balance of technical and business acumen, be comfortable multitasking in a dynamic environment, and have strong interpersonal skills.
