Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Kesgrave / Ipswich area (regular office presence required)

Salary: Competitive + benefits (including CPD support)

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a fast-growing organisation operating nationally across earthworks, civils, demolition, aggregates and large-scale technical projects.

This position plays a key role in leading commercial management across complex and high-value schemes. You will work closely with Project Managers and senior leadership, providing expert cost control, contractual guidance and commercial strategy to ensure profitable and timely project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
Commercial Leadership
  • Oversee the commercial performance of major earthworks, civils and demolition projects.
  • Lead valuations, payments, change management and contractual negotiations.
  • Manage risk, identify opportunities and ensure cost-efficient project delivery.
Cost Control & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate forecasts, cashflow and financial reports.
  • Prepare CVRs, budgets and commercial summaries for senior leadership.
  • Ensure robust cost tracking, measurement and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Contract & Procurement Management
  • Administer NEC/JCT/bespoke contracts and manage commercial obligations.
  • Support subcontract procurement, tendering and negotiation.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure contract compliance.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Directors and site teams to maintain alignment on scope, costs and programme.
  • Attend progress meetings and provide clear commercial updates.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants and suppliers as required.
Team Development
  • Mentor and support junior/assistant quantity surveyors.
  • Promote consistent standards, commercial processes and best practice across the team.
