Role: Coke and Refinery (Technical Assessor)

Contract role

Location: Remote, UK coverage

We are seeking a Technical Assessor with experience in manufacturing coke oven products. External Technical Assessors play a vital role in the UKAS assessment process, providing expertise to ensure robust evaluations in Coke and Refinery sectors.

This position offers industry professionals a unique opportunity to expand skills and advance their careers while maintaining their current roles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess manufacturing processes of coke oven products, coke, semi-coke, pitch, oven gas, crude coal, lignite tars, and coke agglomeration.
  • Understand manufacturing of coke and refined petroleum products, including environmental impacts.
  • Evaluate production of motor fuels, gasoline, kerosene, and refinery gases such as ethane, propane, butane.
  • Assess manufacture of oil-based products for petrochemicals and road coverings, including petroleum briquettes and biofuel blending.
  • Gain on-site understanding of processes like carbonisation, distillation of tar from lignite, mineral oil production, coke oven gases, and by-products.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and environmental legislation.
Qualifications:

Degree in organic chemistry preferred; extensive experience in the field will also be considered.
