A leading Defence Sector SME in Herefordshire seeks a Senior/Lead Platform Engineer with active SC or MoD DV Clearance. This role requires strong expertise in Linux, Kubernetes, Docker, and Python, focusing on developing secure Linux-based platforms. The successful candidate will support the data team and lead a growing engineering department. Salary up to £105k, primarily on-site.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux engineering background.
• Expertise in Kubernetes and Docker.
• Proficient in scripting (Python, Bash).
• Experience with air-gapped networks and cloud platforms.
• Familiar with HPC environments.
• Knowledge of security, encryption and compliance standards.

As a Senior/Lead Platform Engineer, you'll support our client's data team in developing secure Linux-based platforms. We're seeking someone with experience in security-cleared environments and advising on the design and delivery of wider systems. Our client is in an exciting period of growth, and they're seeking a Lead Engineer to build a team around.

Responsibilities:

• Develop a Kubernetes stack with secure-by-design tools
• Update security, software, dependencies and libraries
• Set up and migrate Spark clusters across platforms
