Overview

Our mission at Response is to enable people of all ages to live a more fulfilled life by providing excellent mental health services, housing, and supported living. We are seeking a Senior Mental Health Support Worker to empower independence and support individuals with mental health needs at Rowan House, Littlemore.

Position: Senior Mental Health Support Worker

Salary: £27,560 - £30,680 per annum (salaries vary depending on experience)

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday – Sunday, inclusive of bank holidays. Shifts include mornings, evenings and weekends.

Service: Rowan House, Littlemore. 25 residents with acute mental health needs, working alongside the Adult Mental Health Team.

What You’ll Be Doing

Response is looking for an enthusiastic, caring person to join their team at Rowan House. The role offers variety and the satisfaction of making a positive impact on residents.

  • Lead shifts, delegate tasks, and manage incidents and health and safety for the project and residents.
  • Mentor support workers, lead by example, and manage your own caseload.
  • Provide person-centred support to clients with serious mental illness, including adults with primary diagnoses of psychotic illness and potential coexisting conditions such as physical health issues, neurodiversity, substance use, and cognitive impairment.
  • Respond to service phone queries from internal and external customers, delegating where appropriate.
  • Undertake referrals assessments and participate in regular assessment and risk management training.
  • Ensure risk is continuously assessed and risk management plans are kept up to date.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures for Adults and Children and Young People are followed.
  • Represent the company professionally, upholding punctuality, appearance, professional boundaries, and equal opportunities.

Essential criteria:

  • GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • A commitment to undertake continual personal development.
  • Detailed understanding of mental health and wellbeing challenges and the level of care required.
  • Understanding of current approaches to mental health practice.
  • Knowledge of how to support referral and assessments.
  • Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion issues affecting people’s lives.
  • IT literate with experience using MS Office packages.
  • Previous related work experience.
  • Good communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
  • A genuine interest in mental health and well-being with a commitment to delivering Response's mission.

You will receive training to use core therapeutic talk therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Strength-based Trauma Informed Care, and Mutual Aid to provide the best possible support to clients.
