Job Summary
Senior Mental Health Support Team Practitioner Band 6 based in Doncaster.
We are recruiting two Band 6 practitioners who are enthusiastic, kind, compassionate and resilient. We seek multi‑disciplinary professionals with core professions such as social work, mental health nursing or learning disability nursing, with a broad knowledge and experience of mental health.
These practitioners will work in both educational and health settings within Doncaster to support the implementation of the MHST model and complement the early intervention offer in local areas.

Person Specification
Qualifications – Essential
- Relevant health/social care Degree or equivalent (e.g. RMN, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Clinical Psychologist, Psychotherapist) with professional registration.
Qualifications – Desired
- Specialist Qualification in CBT, FT or other appropriate therapy Degree or equivalent.
- Qualification or formal training in Supervision.
Experience – Essential
- Post‑qualification experience working with young people with mild to moderate mental health problems, children and families.
- Experience of managing a high caseload and prioritising work.
- Experience of Multi‑Disciplinary Working.
- Engaged in advanced level practice with demonstrated professional autonomy.
- Ability to provide patient‑centred assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation with children, young people, parents and families using mental health nursing skills.
- Ability to undertake Risk Assessments and identify appropriate plans in partnership with the young person, families and other agencies.
- Experience of providing supervision to junior staff.
Experience – Desired
- Planning and delivering presentations and training to groups.
- Experience in delivering comprehensive family work in a child and family setting.
- Understanding of assessment of children suspected of having ADHD/ASD.
Knowledge – Essential
- Theoretical and practical knowledge in child and adolescent mental health and awareness of key drivers.
- High competence in making decisions regarding ongoing patient care based on clinical and risk factors.
- High level of problem‑solving and planning skills.
- Effective communication with all disciplines and agencies to optimise patient management.
- Awareness of own competency level and how to seek appropriate help.
- Understanding of confidentiality and risk management.
- Clinical audit, research and clinical governance principles.
- Understanding of child protection/safeguarding policies and reporting requirements, including participation in case conferences.
