Overview

A fantastic opportunity has opened for a Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer (Project Manager) to join a well-established ground engineering consultancy based in Manchester.

You'll play a key role in leading a small but growing team of engineers and managing a range of Geotechnical and geo-environmental consultancy projects from inception to completion.

This is primarily an office-based position, with responsibilities spanning project delivery, technical reporting, team leadership, and financial control.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage geo-environmental and geotechnical site investigations across the UK
  • Oversee projects from proposal and design stages through to final reporting and delivery
  • Mentor and delegate to a team of junior engineers, ensuring quality and efficiency in fieldwork
  • Write, review and approve technical reports, including:
    • Phase 1 & Phase 2 site investigations
    • Geotechnical and geo-environmental interpretative reports
    • Remediation strategies and verification reports
    • Technical risk assessments
    • Waste
  • Manage project budgets, resources, and timescales
  • Liaise directly with clients, stakeholders, and regulators
  • Support tendering and bidding for new work
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in a relevant subject (e.g. Geology, Environmental Science, Geotechnical Engineering)
  • 5-10 years of UK-based experience in geo-environmental and/or geotechnical consultancy
  • Strong knowledge of UK contaminated land legislation and risk assessment frameworks
  • Proven experience managing ground investigation projects
  • Ability to design and scope intrusive site investigations
  • Excellent report writing and review skills
  • Confident communicator with clients and regulators
  • Full UK driving licence (desirable)
