Job description

The Senior Finance Officer is responsible for assisting the Finance Services team with the efficient and effective operation of cash management and payroll processes. The role ensures that GPA manages its cash balances effectively through accurate recording of transactions, production of management information, timely cash flow forecasts, and supporting the payment run process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and cash flow reports for the Cabinet Office.
  • Support the payment run process and pay bulk payroll.
  • Record staff costs, ad‑hoc recharging, purchase‑to‑pay processes.
  • Process and maintain journals.
  • Provide support to external and internal auditors for cash controls.
  • Build relationships with key staff across Finance and the business to maintain effectiveness.
  • Support continuous process efficiencies and improvements across the function.
  • Additional duties as required.
Experience & Technical Skills
  • Accounts payable, receivable and cash management experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to analyse and interpret significant amounts of financial data.
  • Good experience of systems and reporting e.g. Oracle.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to work in a geographically dispersed team.
  • Desirable: experience in an Estates/Property environment.
