Senior Engineer, Quality Assurance (SMS)

Position Summary
Accountable in supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS) by assisting with safety monitoring, reporting, auditing and promoting a proactive safety culture to maintain aircraft airworthiness and ensure timely resolution of safety issues.
Key Accountabilities
- Participating and uphold the safety and security policy and procedures within the engineering CAMO department in line with airworthiness requirements and the corporate Safety objective related to CAMO SPI and SPT
- Supporting and ensuring the implementation of SMS is effectively managing the safety risk & data management.
- Ensure the SMS implementation for safety investigation, SMS training for those required and safety promotion for Engineering department.
- Responsible for assisting in coordinating the Emergency Response Plan in engineering and acting as a liaison for FY Engineering document management and control.
- Support the coordination and maintenance of the engineering department’s safety audit activities.
- Assist in managing a reporting system that ensures timely, transparent, and confidential submission of flight safety and human-factors information within engineering.
- Support the monitoring of safety business plans, safety action plans, objectives, and KPI-related safety data, including analysis and reporting to senior management.
- Responsible in identify safety gaps and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
- Assist in investigating and reporting incidents, accidents, or operational irregularities, including recommending measures to prevent recurrence.
- Support the management and monitoring of the safety database to identify and analyze safety trends.
- Support the monitoring and implementation of in-house FRMP and Just Culture initiatives.
- Assist in disseminating safety information to management and operational staff through appropriate communication channels and safety publications.
- Coordinate with Emergency Management and the Group Safety & Security team to ensure FY’s emergency readiness.
- Assist in conducting investigations of assigned defects and deficiencies.
- Raise IRs as required upon receiving incident reports or when instructed.
- Accountable in initiating Special Inspections (SI) as assigned.
- Monitor SI results, update monitoring cards where applicable, and initiate further actions when necessary.
Qualifications and Working Experience
- Diploma and Degree in Science, Safety, Engineering or related field in Aviation Engineering.
- Possess a valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License (AMEL) or equivalent professional qualification
- Attended applicable mandatory & qualifying courses as per CAME 00-05-00
- Minimum of 3 years in aviation or MCE
Areas of Experience
- Knowledge and experience with a Safety Management System or related field
- Experience and familiar with Engineering & Maintenance processes, system, and skills, Aircraft Maintenance Technical processes, Part M & Part 145 requirements.
- Involved in formal audit training and hands‑on experience in conducting audits
- Experience in dealing with authorities for compliance document consultation and approval
- Formal aeronautical maintenance training is an added advantage
