Overview

Senior Clinical Fellow Cardiothoracic Critical Care Medicine with a special interest in extracorporeal life support (ECLS) – BARTS HEALTH NHS TRUST, Cardiovascular Clinical Academic Group.

Senior Clinical Fellow in Cardiothoracic Critical Care with a special interest in extracorporeal life support (ECLS). We are recruiting a Senior Clinical Fellow (ST5+ equivalent) in Critical Care Medicine. The post offers experience in both cardiac and general intensive care across four critical care units, with a dedicated commitment to ECLS (at least one day per week) alongside audit activity.

This post provides an opportunity to be part of the UK\'s premier cardiac centre, the Barts Heart Centre, formed by the merger of cardiothoracic services from London Chest Hospital, St Bartholomew\'s Hospital and the Heart Hospital. The merger created the UK\'s largest cardiothoracic centre, offering specialist cardiac services for north central and northeast London and national services, within the new hospital on the St Bartholomew\'s site.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical service within cardiothoracic critical care and general intensive care across four units.
  • Commit to dedicated ECLS activity (at least one day per week).
  • Engage in audit and quality improvement activities as part of the role.
  • Contribute to a multidisciplinary team in a high-volume cardiothoracic centre.

With state-of-the-art facilities, Barts Heart Centre includes 72 critical care beds, 10 theatres, 10 catheter labs, and over 250 cardiac, vascular, and thoracic beds, making it one of Europe\'s largest Cardiothoracic Centres. Full GMC registration with a license to practice is required.

Qualifications and experience

Essential

  • GMC Registration
  • FRCA, MRCEM, MRCP, FRCS or equivalent
  • Minimum ST5 in Intensive Care Medicine (or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Experience in cardiothoracic critical care and ECLS
  • APLS/EPLS
  • FICE/CUSIC
  • ALS or equivalent
  • ATLS or equivalent
Research, teaching and governance

  • Publications in critical care journals or related areas

Teaching and training

  • Experience in teaching
