Weare inviting applications to fill our Senior Clinical Fellow vacancy at TheLeeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in Department of Urology which isfull-time fixed-term for 12 months.

Candidatesmust be fully registered with the General Medical Council and must hold MRCSat the time of application. Candidates should preferably hold the FRCS(Urol)or equivalent. The successful candidate will be able pursue sub-specialtypost-CCT level training in Andrological Urology.

Main duties of the job

DUTIESOF THE POST

To perform clinic duties appropriateto the post. These include attendance at outpatient clinics, attendance atday-case and inpatient theatre lists, attendance at clinical meetings includingMDTs and maintenance of appropriate records of treatments, including thedictation of clinical notes and letters.

To contribute to the teaching ofnursing, undergraduate and junior medical staff.

To contribute to Post-graduateteaching.

The appointee will also have toperform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at therequest of the appropriate Consultant, in consultation, when practicable, withboth senior and junior colleagues. Ithas been agreed between the profession and the Department of Health that, whilejuniors accept that they will perform such duties, additional commitmentsarising under this sub-section are exceptional.In particular, juniors should not be required to undertake work of thisnature for prolonged periods or on a regular basis.

The specific job plan will be subjectto regular review between the appointee and the consultant.

Job responsibilities

KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Themain purpose for the post is to develop subspecialist skills in pelviconcology, including robotic surgery for bladder and prostate cancer. At theend of fellowship, the post holder is expected to achieve knowledge andsurgical skills to work independently as a Pelvic Uro-Oncologist. The postholder is also expected to support the pelvic oncology team in deliveringgeneral urological services in Leeds.

Candidates

Must hold FRCS (Urol) orequivalent.

Be eligible for full registrationwith the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice

Should have evidence of achievementCCT in Urology or within 6 months of doing so.

Be eligible to work in the UK

Have previous experience atregistrar level in Urology

Person Specification
Experience
  • 1 years experience in Urology after full GMC registration or equivalent, and evidence of achievement of foundation competences, in line with GMC standards / Good Medical Practice.
  • Ability to provide complete details of employment history
  • Evidence that career progression is consistent with personal circumstances
  • Evidence that present achievement andperformance is commensurate with totality of their period of training
  • Post CCT in Urology
  • Evidence of previous Andrology experience
