Job description

Senior Clinical Fellow in Trauma & Orthopaedics

We are assisting a prestigious NHS Trust in recruiting a Senior Clinical Fellow in Trauma and Orthopaedics (Foot and Ankle) on either a substantive or NHS fixed-term basis for 12 months to join their successful T&O department.

The department serves a wide range of elective orthopaedic interests and functions as the Major Trauma Centre for the East of England. It includes 5 specialist Orthopaedic Trauma consultants and accepts Major Trauma patients from on-call colleagues during office hours. The department features dedicated Wards C8 and D8, an Elective Orthopaedic Unit, and an Elderly Trauma Unit, capable of caring for most patients directly from the ED and theatre. Additionally, the department has extensive ICU capacity for trauma patients and a recently expanded HDU.

The successful candidate will undertake duties including:

  1. Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff
  2. Teaching, examination, and accreditation responsibilities, contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education activities locally and nationally
  3. Participation in medical audits, the Trust's Clinical Governance processes, and CPD activities
  4. Responsibilities for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses, ensuring departmental functionality
