Job summary

A leading healthcare foundation in London is seeking a Senior Clinical Fellow in Orthopaedics with an interest in Upper Limb. The role involves providing outstanding clinical services, undertaking teaching commitments, and contributing to research efforts. Candidates should have proven experience in trauma and orthopaedics, along with a full registration with GMC/GDC. This position offers a competitive salary ranging from £61,542 to £99,216 annually, plus a London allowance.

Qualifications

Job description
Senior Clinical Fellow in Orthopaedics with interest in Upper Limb

Closing date 16 February 2026.

Remit: work within a multidisciplinary team providing and further developing care for patients. Active role in the general workload of the Care Group with significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff.

Complement of SCF equivalents in the Department of Orthopaedics to 11. Five Senior Clinical Fellows attached to each firm. Primarily work with Mr Sinha and Mr Tavakkolizadeh.

Appointee contributes to development and delivery of aspects of services depending on interests and experience.

Recruitment from September 2026 onwards.

Main duties

Post based at Denmark Hill; reviewed within 3 months of commencement.

Expected to undertake work at any Trust site as required. Work close cooperation with clinical, medical, professional and managerial colleagues to provide high quality healthcare.

  • Provide first class clinical service.
  • Effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty.
  • Sustaining and developing teaching and research in conjunction with King's College London / KHP.
  • Undertake all work in accordance with the Trust's procedures and operating policies.
  • Conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust's service plans.
  • Maintain confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty, the Care Group or the Trust.
About us

King's divided into Divisions. Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery cross site division incorporating trauma and elective surgery at PRUH and Denmark Hill. Elective facility at Orpington hospital with four operating theatres, admissions ward and post‑operative ward facility.

Trauma and Orthopaedics has its own Care Group. Care Group led by Clinical Director Mr Abhinav Gulihar. Clinical Directors supported by Clinical leads at Denmark Hill and Princess Royal sites with separate Governance leads at each site. Care Group General Manager Ms Hannah Jackson; Cyril Noone Head of Nursing.

Job responsibilities
  • Shared responsibility with other colleagues to provide a service for patients. This includes all aspects of treatment and relevant management duties for the proper functioning of the Care Group.
  • Shared responsibility with other colleagues for providing 24 hours, 7 days a week cover for the Unit on a rota basis. Responsible also for covering colleagues periods of annual leave and short‑term sickness.
  • Participation in Multi‑disciplinary Meetings.
  • Contribution to audit and clinical governance programmes.
  • Responsible for outpatient clinic commitments in peripheral hospitals as agreed with the Care Group management team.
  • Contribute to the Care Group research interests in accordance with the Trusts R&D framework.
  • Contribute to the audit programmes, Morbidity and Mortality, clinical governance programmes and learning from Deaths.
  • Conduct all activities within the contracted level of service and operating plan for service(s).
  • Work in conjunction with clinical and other professional colleagues to ensure that the productivity of staff within the specialty is maintained and their job satisfaction is enhanced. This may include involvement in the appraisal process for peers and/or junior colleagues.
  • Be aware of, and comply with, all Trust infection prevention and control policies, to include hand hygiene, personal hygiene, environmental and food hygiene.
  • Prepare for and undertake the protective interventions that you are responsible for in a manner that is consistent with evidence‑based practice and maintaining patient safety.
Person Specification
  • Proven experience of Specialist SpR training in trauma and orthopaedics.
  • MRCS.
  • Full registration with GMC/GDC with License to Practice.
  • Experience in day to day organisation of orthopaedics services in a busy Teaching Hospital.
  • Experience of conducting or supporting clinical research.
  • Experience of undergraduate and post‑graduate teaching and exam preparation.
