A prominent healthcare provider is seeking a Senior Clinical Fellow in Neonatology at their Carshalton location. The role involves working with critically ill newborns, developing specific neonatal skills, and participating in teaching and quality improvement initiatives. It requires advanced communication and collaboration skills, alongside a commitment to high-quality patient care.
Senior Clinical Fellow in Neonatology at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. This is a ST4+ post in Neonatology and one of six ST4-6 posts on the middle grade doctor rota in Neonatology at St Helier Hospital. The closing date is 05 October 2025.
The post is based at St Helier Hospital in Carshalton. The appointee will work closely with colleagues on all sites, and the Trust expects cross-site working. The Neonatal Unit is a sub-regional Level 2 Centre and admits a large number of very sick and preterm infants from within and outside the districts, greater than 27 weeks gestation. We offer ventilation, initiation of therapeutic cooling, ECHO and Cranial Ultrasound, and have access to MRI and formal EEG. Babies born below 27 weeks are transferred to the local tertiary Neonatal Unit at St George's Hospital, with close links to the St George's team for surgical and neurosurgical support. The Obstetric unit also caters for high-risk pregnancies with obstetricians specializing in high-risk obstetrics, fetal medicine, infertility and in vitro fertilization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
St George's, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George's Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).
After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000-strong workforce.
