Applications are invited to join a dynamic team of Cardiologists, based at the Cardiac Centre in Morriston Hospital. We are looking for a visionary and hard‑working candidate to join our department, where all Cardiac inpatients are based. The post is fixed term for 12 months only.

The successful post holder will join existing colleagues on the SpR rota, support new and follow up patient clinics for Cardiology and participate in the running of a fast paced, regional Cardiology service within SBUHB.

We welcome candidates with a strong grounding in angioplasty and structural intervention. The successful candidate will join the wider team of cardiologists working at SBUHB to provide secondary cardiology care for the Swansea Bay patients and tertiary cardiac care for the population of Mid and West Wales. We place a great emphasis on continuous professional development and will actively support you in the achievement of personal goals.

Main duties of the job

The new appointee will work with the current team to support the Cardiology service and participate in the SpR rota. The primary focus of the post will be to provide a first‑rate outpatient, interventional and follow up service for patients with Cardiology conditions. This will include:

  • Cardiology assessment of acute cardiac admissions to the Cardiac Centre
  • Participate in an SpR on call rota
  • Deliver an outpatient review and follow up service for Cardiology.
  • Manage in patients admitted to the Cardiac Centre.
  • Participate in the Cardiac MDT schedule.
  • The post holder will be encouraged to undertake clinical research in cardiology, and there is considerable scope for collaboration with colleagues and participation in ongoing research projects.
  • Participation in the departmental clinical governance and audit program, multi‑disciplinary and educational meetings.
  • Supervision and training of junior medical staff and undergraduate medical students.
