Position Summary

The Senior Claims Adjuster is responsible for managing complex insurance claims, including investigating the circumstances of the claim, determining coverage, setting reserves, negotiating settlements, and making recommendations for litigation when necessary. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to make decisions under pressure.

What will your job entail?

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of complex insurance claims, ensuring that each claim is handled efficiently and effectively.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into the circumstances of each claim, which may involve reviewing documents, interviewing claimants and witnesses, and inspecting property damage.
  • Determine coverage for each claim based on the terms and conditions of the insurance policy.
  • Set reserves for each claim, taking into account the potential cost of the claim and the likelihood of a payout.
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants, aiming to resolve the claim fairly and cost-effectively.
  • Make recommendations for litigation when necessary, liaising with legal counsel and attending court proceedings as required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of each claim, documenting all actions taken and communications with claimants.
  • Provide guidance and support to less experienced claims adjusters, sharing knowledge and expertise.
  • Stay up to date with changes in insurance regulations and industry best practices, participating in ongoing professional development activities.
  • Liaise with other departments within the company, such as underwriting and customer service, to ensure a coordinated approach to claims management.

Work Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Legal, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
