Senior Civil Engineer — Nottingham | £40,000 - £50,000 + Hybrid + Flexible Working Hours + Bonus + Christmas Shutdown
We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join a growing consultancy in Nottingham. This is a great opportunity to take a leading role within a small, supportive team delivering a wide variety of civil and structural engineering projects, including public realm schemes, highways, active travel, residential developments, commercial units, schools, and high-tech industrial facilities.
The Role
- Supervise and manage the delivery of multiple projects, leading small delivery teams from pre-planning through to on-site delivery.
- Produce and check civil engineering designs, including levels, drainage, earthworks, and external works, ensuring technical quality and client satisfaction.
- Prepare and review highway design packages to Local Authority approval standards.
- Mentor junior team members, supporting their development and ensuring quality standards are met.
- Oversee commercial aspects of smaller schemes, including fee proposals, invoicing, and managing variations.
- Coordinate civil engineering design with in-house structural teams and with external multidisciplinary consultants.
- Lead by example, maintaining professionalism, diligence, and a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
About You
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered, or working towards Chartered status, with a recognised institution (e.g. ICE).
- Strong background across a range of civil engineering disciplines, with experience delivering schemes to both private and public sector standards.
- Good knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including Building Regulations, Local Authority guidance, DMRB, Specification for Highway Works, and Sewerage Sector Guidance.
- Experience working with Sectional Agreements under the Highways Act (S38, S278) and Water Industry Act (S104, S106).
- Proficient in industry-standard design software such as Civil 3D, PDS, Flow, and MicroDrainage.
- Capable of managing competing workloads and leading small project delivery teams.
- Strong communication and organisational skills with a proactive approach.
