Job description
Senior Civil Engineer

A well‑established and design‑led structural and civil engineering consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to support continued growth within its Leicester office. This is an excellent opportunity for a capable civil engineer to take a leading role in the delivery of infrastructure and development projects while contributing to the ongoing development of a growing consultancy.

The Role

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the design and delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure schemes across a range of sectors, working closely with directors, clients and project teams. The role will also involve mentoring junior engineers and supporting the wider business with project delivery and technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading the design and delivery of highways, drainage and civil infrastructure works
  • Producing and reviewing technical designs and documentation, including SuDS strategies and detailed drainage designs
  • Preparing and overseeing technical submissions and approvals including S104, S106, S185, S38, S278 and S184
  • Producing and reviewing Flood Risk Assessments and hydraulic modelling outputs
  • Delivering external works, earthworks modelling and levels design
  • Undertaking 2D and 3D highway and drainage design using industry‑standard software
  • Liaising with local authorities, statutory bodies and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Chairing and contributing to project meetings and providing technical input to clients
  • Mentoring and supporting junior engineers and technicians
  • Assisting with resource planning, fee proposals and programme delivery
  • Ensuring all work is compliant with current UK standards, regulations and best practice
Technical & Software Requirements
  • Strong experience using AutoCAD and Civils 3D
  • Experience with Causeway Flow or MicroDrainage
  • Sound knowledge of UK drainage, highway and infrastructure design standards
Candidate Profile
  • Proven experience working within a UK civil engineering consultancy
  • Strong technical capability in infrastructure and development‑led civil engineering
  • Confident leading projects and communicating with clients and external stakeholders
  • Chartered or actively working towards chartership with ICE (or equivalent)
  • Proactive, organised and solutions‑focused approach to engineering delivery
