A leading charity for children in Tadworth is seeking a Senior Business Development Marketing Manager to enhance brand awareness and increase referrals. The Childrens Trust is the UKs leading charity for children with acquired brain injury, providing expert rehabilitation, education, therapy and care at our national specialist centre in Tadworth, and to children and their families across the UK, via our Community Rehabilitation Service. We are the largest centre commissioned by NHS England for Category A neurorehabilitation.
This role is pivotal in leading on all business development and services-marketing activity to drive and increase brand awareness to ultimately generate referrals, whilst strengthening our position to be the provider of choice to support children with acquired brain injury and neurodisability across the UK and internationally.
Youll work alongside a cross-organisational team to promote our services to external stakeholders, in particular managing our key account plan to influence, maximise referrals and income generating opportunities. Key to this is cultivating and maintaining relationships with stakeholders including hospital-based clinicians, commissioners at both integrated care boards and local authorities, with professionals with NHS England at a regional and national levels, embassies, medico-legal professionals including case managers and lawyers.

Youll play a key and central role in driving promotion of our services, and this requires a balanced mix of both business development and marketing skills, knowledge and experience in a complex, services environment. Youll be comfortable with matrix working, recognising the importance of this role in working across the organisation to drive referral generating activity.

This role ensures The Childrens Trust is regarded as the provider of choice to support children with ABI and Neurodisability, across the UK and internationally. It leads on all business development and services-marketing activities to drive brand awareness, identify opportunities, cultivate relationships, and increase referrals and income across all services.
Under the post-holder, a cross-organisational team will promote the services to external stakeholders to increase brand awareness and referrals, strengthen The Childrens Trusts position as the go-to provider, and influence stakeholders internally and externally across education, health and social care. This includes leading on the creation and implementation of our Business Development Strategy (including ICB engagement), strategic leadership and hands-on management of the account-based marketing strategy, multi-channel marketing campaigns, and alignment of core business income streams.
*Note: fundraising and other marketing activity are outside the scope of this role and sit with the central marketing and communications team.
This role will develop and maintain relationships with hospital and community clinicians, commissioners at ICBs and local authorities, NHS England professionals at regional and national levels, international embassies, and medico-legal professionals including case managers and lawyers.
Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Business Development and Services Marketing Activity
In collaboration with key leaders, contribute to the development and implementation of a business development strategy to optimise referral-generating activity across all services, working with relevant service leads as required.
Provide strategic oversight and hands-on management of two key parts: account-based marketing (key accounts) to develop and steward relationships with NHS referrers, funders, local authorities, and private providers; and services marketing to oversee multi-channel activity for professionals and families.
Oversee the organisation’s events programme (hosted events, webinars, site visits, showcases, education events, conferences, etc.) and the external events calendar, ensuring alignment and ROI evaluation.
Lead external representation and attendance decisions to maximise opportunities and strategically align events with the plan.
Support development of business cases for new service development and monitor market demand, competition, and the commissioning landscape to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
Collaborate to align with external developments and strengthen reach, supported by the advisor.
Work with Communications & Marketing to support services marketing campaigns and referral pipelines.
Oversee marketing briefs and materials for services marketing, including web and print content, with support from the BD Marketing Officer.
Ensure GDPR guidance is followed in conjunction with the governance team for all activity.
Business Planning and Budget Management
Set and monitor the BD operational expenditure budget and deliverables for services-marketing and business development spend. Reconcile monthly transactions and produce reports. Work with senior leaders to drive performance to budgeted activity, occupancy and income targets, and develop income forecasts with mitigation plans as needed.
Leadership
Lead business development and services marketing activity across all services, reporting to the Senior Leadership Team. Represent The Childrens Trust externally at meetings and events to build relationships and opportunities. Ensure the BD Marketing Officer and team are motivated, supported, and developed. Maintain collaboration with the Medical Director and other leaders for a multidisciplinary approach. Ensure staff are inducted, trained and reviewed, and uphold organisational policies and professionalism.
