Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant Mainstream Secondary School
Location: Bristol
Start Date: Immediate
Salary: £95 - £110 per day

Do you have experience working 1:1 or in small groups to help students access the curriculum and thrive in school?

TeacherActive is partnering with a well-regarded mainstream secondary school in Bristol to recruit a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant. In this role, you will provide tailored support to students with a range of additional needs, helping them engage with learning and develop independence in the classroom.

This is a long-term opportunity with excellent potential for extension or permanent placement. You will work closely with teaching staff, SENDCo, and pastoral teams to implement individual support plans for students with needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), SEMH, and other SEND.

Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEND to help them access the curriculum

  • Support students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs in line with their individual education plans

  • Promote independence, confidence, and resilience in learners

  • Assist with adapting resources and activities to suit individual learning styles

  • Collaborate with teachers and SEND teams to monitor progress and adjust support as needed

  • Maintain clear records and contribute to review meetings

The ideal candidate will have
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND in a mainstream setting

  • Good understanding of a range of additional needs, including SEMH and Autism Spectrum Condition

  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in SEND support
