Here at Aspire People, we support an independent SEN School in the Royston area of Hertfordshire (SG8) with finding the right teaching assistant\'s and teaching staff.

The position is full-time, Monday - Friday 8:30am - 16:30pm and is a term-time position only.

The school grounds sits on acres of land and offers generous space for all their students. The school currently caters for students aged 5-16 who have an educational health care plan. Most of the students have a diagnosis of ASD, ADHD and other physical disabilities.

The role is challenging, yet incredibly rewarding!

Responsibilities
  • Support students\' learning, development, and progress across all areas of the curriculum, in a variety of settings (in the classroom, in the local environment, in the community).
  • Help young people with a range of needs - including PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities), SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties), autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, physical and sensory impairments, complex medical needs - to achieve their educational and personal goals.
  • Participate in physical interventions when needed (behaviour that challenges; managing transitions; de-escalation, etc.).
  • Help students with sensory issues - helping them manage sensory overload; using space, resources, calm environment or break-out sensory areas.
  • Promote emotional wellbeing: support low self-esteem, anxiety, confidence building.
  • Assist with behaviour management: maintaining high behavioural expectations; intervening or supporting during difficult or challenging behaviours; keeping records of behaviour / incidents.
  • Once a successful trial period has been completed with Aspire People, all teaching assistant\'s will be transferred onto the permanent contract where they will be enrolled onto a two-week induction course learning Makaton, sensory learning tools, managing risk assessments, PRICE training, Lego therapy and more!
