Job description
We are working with a Secondary School in South-West Oxfordshire to find a permanent SEN KS3 Teacher to follow a differentiated curriculum and lead a group of 11 students with a range of complex needs including moderate and severe learning difficulties, PMLD and autism.

This school was rated "Outstanding" in all areas in their last Ofsted inspection, and they are dedicated to creating a learning environment which is accessible, attentive and fun. A successful applicant would be supported in their lessons by 3 Teaching Assistants, and should be prepared to manage a range of challenging behaviour and help provide a safe, ambitious and exciting environment for their students.

Duties as SEN KS3 Teacher:
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons across the KS3 curriculum, adapted to meet the needs of students with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, moderate learning difficulties).

  • Develop and implement personalised learning plans in collaboration with the SENCo, teaching assistants and external professionals.

  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to ensure all pupils can access the curriculum and achieve progress.

  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing regular feedback to parents, carers and colleagues.

  • Create a positive, supportive classroom environment that fosters confidence, independence and social development.

Ideal SEN KS3 Teacher:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Experience teaching KS3 students, ideally within an SEN or inclusive setting.

  • Strong understanding of current SEN strategies and inclusive classroom practices.

  • Excellent communication, organisational and teamworking skills as SEN KS3 Teacher.

  • Patience, empathy and the ability to build positive relationships with students and families.
