We’re supporting a welcoming school in Gateshead that’s looking for a 1:1 Behaviour Support Assistant to work closely with a pupil who needs extra guidance with their social, emotional and behavioural needs. The school has a supportive team, clear routines and a nurturing approach that helps pupils feel safe and ready to learn.

What you’ll be doing

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH needs
• Helping them manage emotions, stay focused and cope with challenging moments
• Using consistent, positive behaviour strategies set by the SEN and pastoral teams
• Offering calm reassurance during transitions and high-pressure points in the day
• Encouraging positive communication, resilience and confidence
• Working alongside teachers to maintain a structured, supportive environment

• Experience in behaviour support, youth work, mentoring or care is helpful but not essential
