Roles that require PVG Membership

With effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full‑time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. The Council will pay the initial PVG membership cost (£18 for existing members, £59 for non‑members), and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first full month’s salary payment.

Job Purpose / The Role

The purpose of the job is to analyse samples and operate equipment to the required standard within the chemistry section of the Aberdeen Scientific Services Laboratory.

The Post Holder Needs to Hold (as a Minimum)
  • HNC in chemistry, biological sciences or equivalent
  • Full current UK driving licence
The Postholder Is Able To Demonstrate
  • Ability to work under pressure to within designated timescales
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi‑task
  • Ability to ensure that operational procedures are adhered to
  • An understanding of computer systems and hardware/software applications
