Job description

We are seeking an inspiring, organised, and student‑centred Head of Year 12 who is also able to teach Science. This is a key pastoral and academic leadership role, ideal for a teacher who is passionate about sixth‑form education and committed to supporting students at a pivotal stage of their academic and personal development.

About the Role
  • Lead and oversee the academic progress, attendance, behaviour, and wellbeing of the Year 12 cohort
  • Support students' transition into sixth form and establish high expectations from the outset
  • Work closely with tutors, subject teachers, parents/carers, and senior leaders to secure excellent outcomes
  • Track progress and implement effective intervention strategies
  • Deliver high-quality Science teaching at KS4 and/or KS5, depending on specialism and experience
  • Contribute to the wider life, culture, and strategic development of the sixth form

  • Is an excellent classroom practitioner in Science
  • Has strong pastoral skills and a genuine commitment to student welfare and success
  • Demonstrates effective leadership, organisation, and communication skills
  • Is resilient, proactive, and solutions‑focused

  • Previous pastoral or leadership experience is desirable but not essential; training and support will be provided for the right candidate.
