Job summary

A leading educational institution in Yorkshire is seeking a School Liaison Officer to engage with primary and secondary schools, promoting educational opportunities. The successful candidate will manage their workload independently, organize events, and support students and staff in achieving post-16 options. Ideal candidates will have experience in delivering activities for young people, strong public speaking skills, and the ability to work as part of a team. Travel across the North and West Yorkshire region will be required, with flexibility for home working.

Qualifications

About the Role

We are recruiting a School Liaison Officer to join the School Liaison team. The team works with primary and secondary schools to promote what we offer as a Group to potential and future students. We engage and inspire students across all age groups to consider further education and other learning provisions. We are a friendly and supportive team who love making a difference in young people’s lives. It is heart-warming to see young people we have inspired progressing in their chosen learning to achieve their future goals and knowing we were a part of their journey. The ideal candidate will be confident, self‑motivated, able to manage their own workload effectively, and comfortable speaking in public to different target audiences. Work from home flexibility available in this role, more details will be provided at interview stage. Please note that we will be closed from 4pm on Friday 19 December and will re‑open on Monday 5 January 2026. You are still welcome to apply for our roles during this period, and applications will be reviewed once we reopen in January 2026. The interview for this role will be held in January 2026.

What You Will Do
  • Independently engage with school students and staff (both primary and secondary) within your area, to participate in school and college events to promote the opportunities available through our Group.
  • Plan, organise and attend events both virtual and face‑to‑face such as assemblies, career fairs, parents’ evenings & college open days to promote our Group learning opportunities. This could be a few times a week.
  • Liaise regularly with school staff to support them with post‑16 option events, student applications and provide them with any data they require.
  • Meet the recruitment targets and use reports and data to understand Group priorities.
  • The role includes travel across the North and West Yorkshire region, evening working and occasional weekends.
  • This role does require some elements of lone working.
  • Willingness to work towards an L3 Information, Advice & Guidance qualification.
About You
  • Previous experience of working with children/young people to deliver creative and engaging activities or events.
  • Previous experience of working with schools, parents and external support agencies.
  • Must have a good level of general education with literacy and numeracy at level 2 or above or a willingness to gain this.
  • Must be confident in using Microsoft Office and Google applications.
  • Excellent organisational, planning and administrative skills.
  • Must be confident in public speaking and able to adapt your approach depending on the target audience.
  • Able to work positively & effectively as a member of a team and on own initiative.
  • Must be able to drive and have access to a car (mileage will be paid).
