+ £45 per hour Inside IR35

Location: Stevenage
Type: long term contract role

About the Role
We're looking for a Satellite AIT EGSE Engineer to take the reins on specifying, procuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the electrical test racks (EGSE) that bring spacecraft from blueprint to blast-off. You'll be hands-on with validation, maintenance, and fault-finding, while also running the behind-the-scenes show - configuring, maintaining, and administering the computers on the EGSE network.

If you're as comfortable with a soldering iron as you are with a bash script, this is where your skills meet the stars.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Maintaining and fault-finding on electronic and RF test racks.

  • Administering computer systems and networks across Windows and Linux.

  • Developing scripts and code to keep EGSE systems mission-ready.

  • Supporting environmental and launch test campaigns.

  • Preparing test specs, reviewing supplier data packs, and contributing to design and non-conformance reviews.

What You'll Bring (Essential)

  • Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic and RF test racks.

  • Strong fault-finding skills down to board/component level.

  • Experience with Windows/Linux network administration.

  • Excellent documentation skills.

  • Knowledge of interfaces such as MIL-1553, SpaceWire, CAN bus, RS232/422.

  • Familiarity with ATE environments (PCI, VXI, PXI).

  • Confident using lab test equipment.

  • Understanding of test system design, manufacture, and commissioning.

  • Flexibility to support shifts and overseas test campaigns.

It Would Be Great If You Also Have (Desirable)

  • Experience integrating electrical equipment on spacecraft.

  • TMTC database knowledge.

  • Experience writing test sequences/scripts for spacecraft systems, including FDIR.

  • Background in environmental and launch test campaigns.

  • Strong programming/scripting ability - especially bash, plus C, Java, Python, TCL, VBA.

This is your chance to be part of a team building and testing the hardware that actually leaves the planet. You'll be working on complex, high-stakes engineering challenges with some of the best minds in the industry - and you'll see your work go from lab bench to orbit.
