Sales Assistant – Collett & Sons Ltd

Collett & Sons have an exciting opportunity for a Sales Assistant to join our team in Bradford.

Location: Bradford, BD12 0QY

Salary: Salary dependent upon experience

Job Type: Normal working hours are Monday to Friday 08:00 to 17:00, flexibility required.

About Us

Collett & Sons Ltd is a successful family‑owned company, established in 1928. Originally a transport company, we have developed into a multi‑modal operator with four closely run divisions that reflect the diverse nature of the business and the clients we serve. The divisions are: Transport, Heavy Lift, Marine and Consulting, allowing a ‘one‑stop shop’ service.

We specialise in the Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Heavy Engineering, Renewables and Civil & Infrastructure markets, transporting and moving difficult loads UK & worldwide. Our sites include a 5‑acre site in Halifax, a 10‑acre site in Goole and a 3‑acre site in Grangemouth.

Sales Assistant – The Role

Initially you will be under the guidance of the Sales Director. As you proactively learn and become confident, the expectation is that you will work autonomously. The role is subject to a 6‑month probationary period after which CPD will be provided to the successful candidate. You will enjoy a varied workload and every opportunity to help grow and develop, contributing to the company’s development and growth with prospects for promotion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily communication with existing and potential new customers via e‑mail and telephone
  • Relationship building
  • Maintaining, updating and expanding the CRM database
  • Proactively generating sales leads and new business
  • Quoting and dealing with enquiries on a daily basis
  • Responding to enquiries and requests
You – Essential Qualifications
  • Minimum education to O level standard (mathematics and English essential); A level or equivalent preferred
  • Full driving licence
  • Experience in a similar role preferred
  • Ability to identify relevant sales leads relevant to the company’s services
  • Customer focused
  • Experience in a transport/logistics environment preferred but not essential
  • Experience with CRM or similar systems an advantage
  • Commercially astute and able to work at a personal level with the client base
