Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Artlogic and ArtAML procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support sales administration, including maintaining client records.
  • Assist with client communications and respond to enquiries.
  • Act as front of house, welcoming visitors and providing information.
  • Assist with the planning, installation, and deinstallation of exhibitions.
  • Support the organisation of private views, events, and art fairs.
  • Provide general administrative and logistical support to the gallery team.
  • Assist with logistics tasks, including tracking shipments and documentation.

At Alchemy we are working with a contemporary art and design gallery who are seeking a Sales Assistant to join its London team. The successful candidate will have 1–3 years’ experience within a commercial gallery or comparable art‑world environment, and will support sales activity, client engagement, and the smooth day‑to‑day running of the gallery. Working closely with senior colleagues, this role requires a high level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail, alongside a strong interest in contemporary art and the gallery sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support sales administration, including maintaining and updating client records and artwork information using Artlogic
  • Assist with client communications and respond to general sales enquiries
  • Act as front of house, welcoming visitors and confidently providing information on artworks and artists
  • Assist with the planning, installation, and deinstallation of exhibitions
  • Support the organisation of private views, events, and participation in art fairs
  • Provide general administrative, logistical, and operational support to the gallery team
  • Assist with basic logistics tasks, including tracking shipments, preparing documentation, and condition checking works
Requirements
  • 1–3 years’ experience in a commercial gallery or related art‑world role
  • Professional, polished, and discreet client‑facing manner
  • Strong interest in contemporary art and the gallery ecosystem
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
