Position Statement

The PCU staff nurse is responsible for the care of adult and geriatric patients including management of multiple medical diagnoses and performing post‑surgical care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs nursing skills within scope of practice for their RN or LPN licensure including patient assessments, communication and documentation of patient findings, and participation in multi‑disciplinary team to fulfill the patient’s plan of care.
  • Inserts and maintain peripheral IVs. Manages care of PICC lines, implantable ports, and central lines.
  • Performs wound assessments and treatments.
  • Provides compassionate end‑of‑life care.
  • Interprets and responds to telemetry monitoring.
  • Provides education to patients and their families regarding their diagnosis, treatment, medications, and safe discharge planning.
  • Attends and participates in unit education and in‑services.
  • Strives to improve the quality of patient care through personal development and unit projects.
  • Collaborates with teammates to promote and preserve a positive work‑place culture.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Current Vermont RN or LPN license required.
  • Completion of telemetry class and exam required within one year of hire. Experienced nurses can ‘test out’ of class by passing exam. Classes are provided by employer.
  • ACLS certification required within one year of hire. New provider classes as well as recertification classes offered by employer.
  • Maintains current AVADE certification. Classes and certification offered by employer.

Pay Information:

$32.88 - $43.49 hourly
