Job description

Infopro Digital group are recruiting for a Staff Writer on a permanent basis to join our Markets desk, Risk.net brand out of our London offices. Reports to : Editor, Markets desk The staff writer will help drive the desk's coverage of global markets, across all major asset classes and instruments. The reporting will compose of a mix of regular news stories, deeply reported features, profiles and data-led articles. It is a hybrid role, allowing for working from home and out of our Houndsditch office. The role requires at least two years' financial reporting experience, preferably within capital markets, but not exclusively. The successful applicant must be a good contact builder and be able to generate their own story ideas. Traditionally an OTC derivatives publication, Risk's coverage has evolved along with those markets - encompassing flow trading, as well as structured and exotic products. For flow, stories may focus on market structure, electronic and automated trading, as well as the cash and listed products that are traded alongside standardised OTC derivatives. In the structured and exotic space, coverage tends to focus more heavily on products, pricing, valuation and risk management. In all cases, Risk's coverage stands out by virtue of its depth. We may not always be first, but we will always offer more insight and analysis. We have a collegiate atmosphere and plenty of guidance and detail will be provided on the topics covered. Our readers represent the full cross-section of the market, and our reporting reflects that - we speak to banks and non-bank liquidity providers, investors and corporates, regulators and supervisors, trading venues and clearing houses, lawyers and consultants, and software vendors. This is a great strength, enabling us to piece together complex stories that have multiple stakeholders. It also means we have to be sensitive to a story's nuances : there may not always be a clear winner, or a clear loser. As markets have become more transparent, our Markets stories increasingly make use of public datasets - and we expect this kind of reporting to become increasingly important.

  • Generate a regular flow of news and feature stories. This includes a mix of exclusive news pieces, conference stories data-led articles.
  • Research and write 2,000-3,000 word feature articles, which require several interviews with various market participants and observers.
  • Build reliable contacts across a variety of market segments, and use them to generate story ideas or develop existing ones.
Proven experience in journalism or financial related field
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Excellent research and interviewing abilities
  • Knowledge of AP Style or other editorial guidelines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Experience with digital publishing platforms is a plus
  • Degree in journalism, communications, or related field is preferred
  • Passion for staying up-to-date with industry trends and current events
