Overview

Resuscitation Officer
Department Practice Education
Band 6 £38,682 - £46,580 per annum pro rata
Hours: 34.5 hours per week. All MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working.

The Resuscitation Team is part of the Practice Education Department and is responsible for providing resuscitation services to fulfil the Trust's resuscitation training needs. We are looking for a knowledgeable and motivated individual with excellent communication skills and experience of resuscitation to join our team. You will be developed to provide resuscitation training in both adult and paediatric resuscitation, attend cardiac arrests and participate in the day-to-day running of the resuscitation service as well as the wider Practice Education Department. The successful applicant will be offered opportunities to develop their resuscitation, clinical and leadership skills, as well as developing skills in practice education and the facilitation of simulation.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate and deliver resuscitation training, including Basic Life Support, Immediate Life Support, Paediatric Immediate Life Support, and assist in the delivery of Advanced Life Support training courses.
  • Maintain accurate training records.
  • Provide specialist advice and teaching on the assessment and management of the acutely ill patient in clinical situations.
  • Attend cardiac arrests where possible and act as an active member of the cardiac arrest team while operating within own scope of practice; assess and interpret patient needs to provide high-quality emergency interventions.
  • Assist with data collection for the National Cardiac Arrest Audit and support internal audits on cardiac arrest activity.
  • Contribute to the development of the resuscitation service, including simulation, education, maintenance of resuscitation training equipment, and audits across the Trust.
  • Participate in the day-to-day running of the resuscitation service and collaborate with the Practice Education Department.

  • Knowledgeable and motivated with experience of resuscitation and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to develop resuscitation, clinical, and leadership skills; capacity to facilitate education and simulation.
  • Ability to work independently in line with Trust policies and procedures, and to be accountable for own professional actions with appropriate supervision as required.
