Resource Teacher (Bridges Program)
Job Description

Applicants will work with elementary students with autism and complex learning needs. This is a specialized program that has a high teacher/parent to student ratio.

Duties include demonstrating ability to work with a variety of districts, departments, teachers, parents, and children, and to plan, direct, implement, and evaluate successful learning environments.

Job requirements: High school diploma, teaching certificate (or local substitute certification), effective communication skills, proficient computer skills, and ability to work with a team in a fast‑paced work environment.

  Nebraska Special Education Teaching Certificate or State Licensure

Required Responsibilities and Job Tasks
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and competencies.
  • Must have people skills including the ability to build relationships, establish trust and credibility and tailor assistance to individual students’ needs.
  • Be creative and have adaptive thinking to match teaching objectives, learning strategies, and instructional plans with students’ abilities and learning modalities.
  • Deliver instruction utilizing appropriate resources, equipment, materials, technology and instructional strategies.
  • Provide a positive role model of appropriate and respectful interactions with students and staff.
  • React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
  • Manage student behavior.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data and utilize it to modify instruction, content and to report progress to parents and school districts.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information concerning staff, students, and parents within all districts served.
  • Adhere to all ESU 7 policies, rules, regulations, and supervisory directives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
