Overview

Job Opportunity: Housing Maintenance Surveyor

Location: Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

Department: Housing Management - Property Services (Repairs)

Salary: £27.40 PAYE - £34.48 (Umbrella)

Contract Type: Temporary - On-Going

Reports to: Principal Surveyor

Responsibilities
  • Conduct pre- and post-inspections of repair works, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance.
  • Diagnose defects and faults, manage works orders, and oversee inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, including CDM and asbestos control.
  • Provide technical advice and recommendations for maintenance strategies.
  • Liaise with residents, resident associations, and local services to support community development.
  • Manage escalated or complex customer issues and repairs.
  • Lead on contract management and ensure programmes are delivered on time.
  • Represent the council in technical forums and contribute to service improvement plans.
  • Maintain accurate records using the department's information systems.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Essential Qualifications: Building ONC, CIOB/RICS, ideally chartered surveyor or equivalent. HNC/Degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Desirable: Membership of RICS, CIH, or similar professional body. Professional qualification in surveying or substantial relevant experience.
  • Skills & Experience: Extensive experience in housing surveying and project environments. Strong negotiation skills with contractors and stakeholders. Political awareness and ability to advise senior elected members. Attention to detail and robust data management. Commitment to continuous professional development.
