Rehabilitation Assistant - Stroke Unit

The closing date is 14 October 2025

An Exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 3 Rehabilitation Assistant in the Stroke Team based at Trafford Hospital.

You will be working as part of the Stroke Therapy team to assist registered Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists in the provision of therapeutic care and rehabilitation to Stroke patients. Therefore, you will need to have an empathetic nature, excellent communication skills and previous experience of working in a healthcare setting is desirable.

You will have the opportunity to work with the wider multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the weekend service. The role will also involve some administrative tasks, equipment management, cleaning duties and general IT skills are required.

You should be able to work as directed by the qualified therapists but also be confident and competent in carrying your own caseload and reporting back to the team. You should therefore be able to demonstrate the ability to motivate patients to maximise their rehabilitation potential.

Previous experience of working on a Hospital Ward, along with skills in moving and handling patients would be advantageous. Candidates should have a willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Main duties of the job

Assisting the registered therapists in the delivery of high quality rehabilitation care and to support discharges from hospital.

Working directly with patients to carry out treatment programs as directed by the therapists and reporting back. Assisting the therapists in delivering interventions with patients.

Working with the wider multidisciplinary team, attending handovers and feeding information into and back from to the therapy team.

Demonstrate excellent communication skills with patients, their families and the multidisciplinary team.

Be able to motivate and encourage patients with their therapy, and also have an empathetic nature.

Administrative tasks and equipment management. Including note writing, data collection for audit purposes, good general IT skills are required.
