We are partnering with a high-growth Fintech business to appoint a senior regulatory lawyer with deep expertise in payments and consumer credit. This role will be a strategic legal advisor, shaping the company’s approach to compliance across the UK, EU, and international regulatory landscapes while enabling product innovation and commercial growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a senior legal advisor on UK, EU, and international consumer financial regulations, including the Consumer Credit Act (CCA), PSD2, and CCD2.
  • Provide strategic counsel on payments regulation, licensing requirements, and broader compliance obligations.
  • Partner with senior product and commercial teams to design, structure, and launch new products in a compliant and commercially viable way.
  • Anticipate and interpret emerging legal and regulatory developments, assessing their impact on payments, credit, and consumer protection.
  • Oversee and review the drafting of consumer-facing documentation, terms of business, disclosures, and policies.
  • Support regulatory engagement, liaising directly with regulators and industry bodies where appropriate.
  • Advise on adjacent areas including data protection and digital financial services regulation.
Qualifications
  • Qualified lawyer with 3+ years’ post-qualification experience gained in a leading law firm, regulator, or financial services/fintech business.
  • Demonstrable expertise in consumer credit, payments regulation, and related legal frameworks, with strong familiarity with PSD2, CCD2, and data protection regimes.
  • Proven experience advising senior stakeholders and influencing strategic decision-making in a regulated environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to balance regulatory requirements with innovation and growth objectives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage at executive and regulatory level.
