Job description
About Westlakes Recruit

Westlakes Recruit is a specialist recruitment consultancy supporting global nuclear, engineering, and energy projects. We deliver expert talent solutions across the full project lifecycle, with a strong reputation for technical excellence, safety‑led thinking, and long‑standing partnerships. As we continue to expand our contract recruitment capability, we are seeking a driven Recruitment Consultant to join our team and help build and manage a high‑performing contract desk within the nuclear sector.

Role Overview

As a Recruitment Consultant focusing on contract recruitment within the nuclear industry, you will be responsible for sourcing, engaging, and managing contract professionals across engineering, project controls, construction, safety, and specialist nuclear disciplines. You will develop strong client relationships, grow your portfolio, and ensure the seamless delivery of compliant and high‑quality recruitment solutions.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong recruitment background—preferably in technical or regulated sectors—who thrives in a fast‑paced, commercial environment.

Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Client Management
  • Build and grow a contract recruitment desk within the nuclear and highly regulated sectors.
  • Develop and maintain long‑term client relationships, understanding project pipelines and workforce needs.
  • Proactively seek new business opportunities through networking, calls, meetings, and industry events.
  • Work closely with hiring managers, HR teams, and project leads to provide tailored recruitment solutions.
Candidate Attraction & Delivery
  • Source and attract skilled contract professionals through job boards, social media, networking, referrals, and direct headhunting.
  • Manage the end‑to‑end recruitment lifecycle: screening, interviewing, qualifying, presenting shortlists, and managing offers.
  • Ensure all contractors meet compliance standards including security clearance, right‑to‑work, and industry‑specific certifications.
  • Maintain regular communication with contractors, ensuring excellent service and retention.
Contractor & Account Management
  • Oversee onboarding, timesheet approvals, contract extensions, and assignment changes.
  • Build and nurture a strong contractor network within nuclear engineering and associated fields.
  • Provide ongoing support to contractors, ensuring a smooth experience throughout their assignment.
Performance & Operational Excellence
  • Meet personal and team targets related to placements, revenue, and new business.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, documentation, and compliance checks.
  • Contribute positively to team culture and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience in contract recruitment—ideally within engineering, energy, construction, defence, or nuclear sectors.
  • Strong business development skills with a track record of winning and growing accounts.
  • Confident in managing multiple vacancies and deadlines in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Understanding of compliance standards in regulated industries (e.g., nuclear, defence, utilities) is advantageous.
  • Self‑motivated, target‑driven, and commercially astute.
What We Offer
  • Competitive base salary + commission structure.
  • Clear career progression within a growing specialist consultancy.
  • Support from an experienced leadership team and access to specialist training.
  • Opportunity to work with leading clients in the nuclear and advanced engineering sectors.
  • Hybrid working options and modern recruitment tools/technology.
