Are you a real estate lawyer looking for a role with depth and breadth of work, as well as stretch? If it's career development and high quality work you're looking for then this could well be your next move. Our talented Real Estate team in Edinburgh are recruiting.

Our Edinburgh team is closeknit and supportive and this role offers a real opportunity to learn from true real estate law experts who are leaders in their field. You'll also work with the wider national real estate team, now numbering over 200 talented lawyers, giving you access to work that will stretch and challenge you within acollaborative environment. As a result you'll learn quickly, and be given unique opportunities to develop as a brilliant lawyer.

What is therole?

Our nationally recognised Real Estate team has a deserved reputationfor providing first class legal advice, acting as trusted advisors to many of the key players across the sector. A number of our talented lawyersare listed as leaders in their field.

This role will support clients across a range of commercial real estate investment and development deals in Scotland. You'll experience a wide range of property matters from acquisitions and disposals, development work,asset management work for investors, corporate support,real estate financeand renewable transactions in the wind and solar sectors. We have a diverse mix of clients that span the public and private sector and include commercial developers, regeneration companies, household names in house building and retail, as well as offices, shopping centres and industrial/warehouse schemes.Transactions are often high value and offer an excellent opportunity to be involved in high profile quality work.

Additionally working with the wider Real Estate teams across the UK, this will deliver a unique blend of local, national and international work, with plenty of opportunity for client contact where you can play a key role in building and maintaining strong relationships directly with our amazing clients. Business development is important for all our lawyers, and you will be able to contribute to the growth of the Scotland team by supporting local client events, contributing to our reputation and identifying opportunities for further success.

Whatdoes the ideal candidate look like?

We're keen to see applications from lawyers looking to build on their real estate experience or newly qualified lawyers who've had exposure to quality real estate work during their training contracts ideally from a large regional or city firm. What's most important is that you have a genuine enthusiasm to build a career in this specialism. You'll be a positive and resilient lawyer who is excited at the prospect of working in a busy yet supportive environment. Whatever your experience level, orbackground, you'll need excellent drafting skills, a sense of commercial pragmatism, a bright mind and a strong team ethos to work collaboratively to provide the best service for our clients. You'll be committed to providing excellent and high standards in all that you do, and be excited about contributing to the ongoing growth of our team in Scotland. We would be happy to consider applications from candidates looking to work full time, but also welcome applications from those looking for a more flexible working pattern including reduced hours.

Key skills and experience for success in this role include:

  • Being admitted as a qualified lawyer in Scotland. Additionally, being dual qualified in England and Wales is advantageous but not essential.
  • Commercial Real Estate experience gained in your training contract or post qualification.
  • Proven drafting and analytical skills.
  • The ability to deliver complex advice in a coherent and commercial way that is easy for non-lawyers to understand.
  • An interest in learning and developing new skills, with a flexibility to lean into new areas of expertise to assist in resourcing a wide range of work.
  • An ability to work collaboratively with an ability to build strong relationships with colleagues across offices and locations.
  • A willingness to support business development activities.
