Are you an Electrical Engineer with experience working with production machinery? CAST UK is supporting a fantastic manufacturing business in the Rochdale area with a new hire into their R&D function. As R&D Process Engineer you will be working on a high-profile project focused on advancing the business's existing vacuum coating process, as well as supporting other R&D projects such as NPD and customer trials. This is a great opportunity to join a close-knit function, working for an international manufacturing business with an impressive customer portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Play a key role in leading R&D activities for vacuum coating processes
• Drive innovation and enhancements in machine performance
• Lead the testing, operation and optimisation of the R&D test rig to facilitate trials
• Support the laboratory team with other R&D projects and participate in customer trials and product performance analysis

Ideal skills and experience

• Strong background in electrical engineering with previous experience working on and commissioning production machinery within a manufacturing setting
• Qualification in electrical engineering (HNC / HND or above)
• Exposure to roll-to-roll manufacturing, coatings, flexible packaging materials or barrier
• Vacuum coating/substrates knowledge would be highly desirable
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written, with experience of writing technical reports
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across the business
• High attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills
