Overview

Are you a passionate and experienced Qualified Social Worker seeking a rewarding role where you can truly make a difference in children’s lives? We’re working with a supportive and dynamic local authority in the West Midlands to recruit a dedicated Duty Social Worker within Children’s Services. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-paced frontline team at the first point of contact for children and families, providing early help and protection when it’s needed most.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake Child & Family Assessments, ensuring timely and effective interventions.
  • Work closely with professionals across health, education, and police to achieve the best outcomes for children.
  • Focus on early intervention and sustainable change, linking families to the right services at the right time.
  • Use your professional knowledge to make informed decisions on risk, protection, and care planning.
  • Apply best practice and current legislation in all aspects of your work.
Ideal Candidate
  • Registered with Social Work England
  • Qualified (4+ years PQE) with significant frontline experience in Children’s Services
  • Experienced in child protection, duty & assessment, and multi-agency working
  • Knowledgeable of relevant legislation and best practice in children’s safeguarding
  • A confident communicator with excellent mediation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Passionate about improving outcomes for children and supporting vulnerable families
  • Flexible, reflective, and resilient under pressure
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a varied caseload with autonomy and confidence
  • Complete timely and high-quality assessments
  • Develop and implement child-centred care plans
  • Use specialist communication and analytical skills to support effective decision-making
  • Offer guidance to students and unqualified staff where required
