About the role

In the Manufacturing team at JLR’s Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre (EPMC), you’ll help power iconic electric cars. You will be working alongside incredible technicians and leaders to drive our commitment to shape a future we truly believe in, together. The purpose of the role is to ensure that customer satisfaction is maintained through product conformance to agreed quality standards and processes. The responsibility of the Propulsion Test & Investigation Technician will be primarily defining, maintaining and developing the product test processes, investigations, facilities and systems in line with specified Engineering Specification and the Conformity of Production requirements. The role will support all product Strip back, TAG and component changes for all EPMC commodities. The role will also support the Plant Quality Engineering team to ensure that all propulsion Dyno & Shaker testing is aligned with Engineering Specification, including Production Validation, Warranty, CoP, Investigations and other product activities are undertaken with robustness and integrity for current manufacturing and future launch programmes.

What to expect

The successful candidate will be expected to develop within the role as the Plant Quality Engine and BEV testing capabilities grow and mature with new product introduction.

  • Identify and address utilisation issues, coordinate and interface with appropriate cross‑functional teams for resolution and improvement.
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested.
  • Keep up‑to‑date with latest technologies / processes and provide robust justifications where they may be of benefit if incorporated into existing or future EPMC programs.
  • Liaise, support and influence the definition for any investigation and problem solving.
  • Assist with Propulsion Technicians & Facility Technicians ensuring PQ facilities parts, stock lists and spares requirements are defined and maintained.
  • Work closely with the Propulsion test team identifying skills gaps and the development of process instructions and control mechanisms to standardise the test process and support high level fault finding and diagnosis.
What you’ll need
  • Requirement of a STEM NVQ level 3.
  • Experience with a good knowledge and technical understanding of all Powertrain / Propulsion Test – Engines, EDU and Battery.
  • Working knowledge of Test Cell conditions / environment using applications such as AVL Puma (including development of VB Scripts), Vector, ETAS INCA toolset, Fuel.
  • Measurement devices, Ambra, CAN is a requirement.
  • The capability to lead and coordinate cross‑functional concern resolution and improvement activities. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence at all levels.
