Project Officer – Children's Services
- Hourly Rate: £17.79 PAYE (Umbrella option available)
- Location: Barnsley (Hybrid working)
- Job Type: Full-time interim
We are seeking an experienced Project Officer to join our dedicated team within Children's Services. This role is crucial for supporting the management and delivery of projects aimed at improving the welfare and wellbeing of children and families. The focus will be on practice improvement, performance, quality, strategy, and service development.
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate projects to ensure they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Utilise formal project management methods to plan and track progress.
- Provide advice and support on project-related matters.
- Maintain risk registers and help resolve issues.
- Support performance monitoring and data analysis.
- Improve services through better processes and systems.
- Prepare reports and presentations for various stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Stay updated on local and national developments in children's services.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety and council regulations.
- Perform additional duties as required to support the department.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Formal project management training or significant experience in a project management environment.
- Proven experience supporting projects to completion.
- Familiarity with project management methods and tools.
- Experience in improving services and working with stakeholders.
- Comfortable with presenting information and leading briefings.
- Understanding of children’s services and transformation.
- Knowledge of council services and proficiency in Microsoft tools.
- Awareness of challenges in children’s social care.
